I have been involved with theatre all my performing and compositional career, starting with being the associate Music Director of my school’s production of Annie Get Your Gun, through to professional productions in Brisbane, Melbourne, London (England) and throughout my home of Canada. Most recently I have worked at Theatre Calgary as an AMD, and as their regular audition accompanist. I also teach musical theatre at St Francis, and Notre Dame High Schools.
These examples are all variations of a piece I composed in 2007, originally for moorin khuur ensemble and solo (western classical) violin. Each section is between 30-60 seconds
- Section 1: This uses a short sample of a bamboo forest in Japan, with various Asian instruments leading to a melodic variation for strings and English Horn
- Section 2: A more “urban” or “dance” variation
- Section 3: Prepared piano and altered ‘Cello
- Section 4: An homage to Philip Glass
- Section 5: An all guitar variation
